Annie, Get Your Dad’s Gun

For those who have aging parents, the thought about having the conversation of turning in their car keys and no longer driving is a tough one.

However, with over 35% of Americans owning a gun (according to a recent Pew Research Center report), many of these same children need to also consider whether it’s time to remove a gun owned by their parents as well.

Both a car and a gun are lethal weapons and need to be carefully considered when determining whether an aging relative has sufficient capacity to own and handle such an item.  It may not be an easy conversation, but it literally could be one of life versus death.
