Grappling with National Long Term Care Issues

Familiar with the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?

Well, the vast majority of policymakers have been aware for some time that America’s long term care system is “broke;” unfortunately, no one can come to a consensus about how to fix it.  Some policy experts believe the solution lies in enhancing private insurance, requiring larger companies to provide long term care insurance to employees, as well as providing highly-targeted government subsidies to further encourage the purchase of long term care insurance.  Meanwhile, others suggested linking long term care and health insurance.

Regardless of the avenue chosen, though, all seem to agree that the opportunity to properly address this important issue is quickly coming to a close.
