Rethinking Assisted Living Facilities

Many Americans envision leaving the home and moving into an independent or assisted living facility as a loss of independence.  Not being able to live on one’s own in one’s own home seems to squash the American dream.  The reality is that as Americans live longer and longer, it may not be feasible for them to continue to live in their own homes, especially considering the safety concerns which grow with age.  Along that line, it may be beneficial for aging Americans to reconsider the view they have of independent and assisted living facilities, as these types of facilities actually provide the safe environment that many are looking for later in life.
